Fans have reacted as Nick Saban arrives as a commentator for the LSU-Alabama clash this weekend. After 17 seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide, he retired in January and has now become an indispensable part of the ESPN College GameDay crew. Saban will get the opportunity to watch his former team back in action against LSU in week 11.
College GameDay will be present at Baton Rouge to cover the LSU vs Alabama clash on Saturday. Saban, a former coach of the Tigers, was nostalgic to be back on campus.
In a snippet shared by reporter Holly Rowe, Saban had a chat with LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey on the court while visiting her Friday's shoot-around. Mulkey has been the coach since 2021 and led them to a national championship during the 2022-23 season.
"Meeting of some excellent coaching minds," Rowe wrote in the caption.
Fans shared their thoughts and opinions on Nick Saban meeting Kim Mulkey. One declared them the greatest of all time.
"Couple of GOATS"
Another said that a game of poker between Mulkey and Saban would be interesting:
"Man- I'd love to observe a game of poker between these two."
One fan requested for a different version of the photo that Holly Rowe shared to be edited.
"Someone needs to photoshop coaching outfits and put Saban in a Mulkey outfit."
One LSU fan wasn't big on the former Alabama coach
"I really don't like that guy."
Another fan talked about the no-nonsensical attitude of both Kim Mulkey and Nick Saban.
"Can you imagine the world class a** chewing these 2 coupld put on you?"
Nick Saban shares words of motivation with LSU women's basketball team
Kim Mulkey had invited former Alabama coach Saban to motivate her players for the challenges this season has for them. Saban addressed the players and instilled some fire in them to have a successful campaign.
"I would say the most important thing for everybody here is how can you create the most value for yourself," Saban began. "By the choices and decisions you make as a person, as a student and as a player? All of those things are going to help you become more successful in life."
"I know winning is important, but being able to stay focused on the things that help you win, which is what I call 'The Process', is more important than anything. Then, you transfer that into your life, you'll have tremendous amount of success and then you'll be happy and self fulfilled, and I think that's the most important thing."
During his stint with Alabama, Nick Saban led them to six national championships. The week 11 showdown with LSU will be a major factor in their hopes of winning a natty this season under new coach Kalen DeBoer, who has succeeded Saban.
