Courtney Morgan contract extension: How much will Alabama GM earn? Deal value, timeline and more

The Alabama Crimson Tide gave a contract extension to general manager Courtney Morgan.

Morgan served as the GM of the Washington Huskies and followed coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama. He was approached to leave the school by USC, but the Crimson Tide gave him a historic new deal.

According to 247Sports, Morgan and Alabama agreed to a new three-year deal that's expected to pay him around $825,000 per year. The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees will formally approve the deal on Monday.

Morgan was originally set to make $500,000 with Alabama, but the Crimson Tide scrapped that contract to give him a new three-year deal worth $825,000 per year. The deal will take Morgan to 2027.

"Courtney is such an important part of our program," DeBoer said upon hiring Morgan at Alabama, via 247Sports. "He has great relationships across the country and is an essential part of helping us recruit and evaluate talent both at the high school level and in the transfer portal. Courtney is an important pillar in what we are trying to accomplish at Alabama and I am very excited to be able to bring him to Tuscaloosa."

Before taking the GM job at Alabama, Morgan spent the past two seasons at Washington. He's been a key part of assembling Alabama's 2025 recruiting class, which is ranked second.

He's also worked at Michigan and Fresno State.

Kalen DeBoer is the new coach of the Crimson Tide after Nick Saban retired.

DeBoer led the Washington Huskies to the national championship game last season. Replacing Saban will be tough. However, entering the season, DeBoer says success is not about the win total but how the team meshes.

"To me, it’s about what’s it feel like. What’s the energy? What’s the attitude everyday that these guys bring into this facility, the staff as well? Hopefully, when you’re looking at our team, you see a team that really cares about each other, has really grown close and plays extremely hard," DeBoer said, via YardBarker.

"Those that really pay attention to the game I think can identify that real quickly. That’s what I’m hoping you see, and because of that, the results will take care of themselves, and the love and compassion these guys play and have for each other will result in the wins that are needed to reach the goals that we have," DeBoer added.

Alabama is set to open its 2024 season on Aug. 31 at home against Western Kentucky.
