Colorado coach Deion Sanders, aka "Coach Prime," has presided over a sensational 9-3 season for the Buffaloes, who barely missed out on the Big 12 championship game and a berth in the College Football Playoff. The big turnaround was spearheaded by the Heisman Trophy-contending Travis Hunter and the coach's sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, who are headed to the NFL.
On Tuesday, the charismatic Buffs coach posted pictures on Instagram of himself and his sons, including his eldest, Deion Sanders Jr., from over the years.
"Long time coming #CoachPrime @janjakejosh (posted by @deionsandersjr)," Coach Prime wrote.
Former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant dropped a heartwarming comment on Coach Prime's post, detailing his sons' rise to the top.
"Prime nothing but respect," Bryant wrote.
Coach Prime tabbed as part of his son's future
Coach Prime has led one of the biggest turnarounds in college football in recent times alongside coach Kenny Dillingham with the Arizona State Sun Devils. Both teams were picked to be bottom feeders in the Big 12 in a preseason media poll but ended up on top of the pile.
Due to the Buffs' stellar season, Sanders has been repeatedly linked with NFL jobs, including the Dallas Cowboys and the Las Vegas Raiders. Two weeks ago, during a segment of the "Ringer" podcast, analyst Bill Simmons tabbed Deion and Shedeur Sanders as a package deal for the Raiders, whose owner Mark Davis has pinpointed the quarterback as his preferred pick in the 2025 draft.
"I'm with you," Simmons said. "Mark Davis is nothing like (Jerry Jones). First of all, his hair is beautiful, it really is impeccable. Secondly, he doesn't care who gets the spotlight, he just wants to be Raiders. That is the perfect, perfect move for them. Shedeur and Deion. People are saying Deion and Shedeur are gonna go to Dallas, not gonna happen."
Simmon's co-host, Sal Lacono, further illustrated the attractiveness of the double move for the struggling franchise (2-10).
"This has Shedeur Sanders and Deion Sanders written all over it," Lacono said. "Like all over it. And by the way, I'm here for it. So Vegas (Raiders) is gonna have a top-three pick. I would assume their coach, Bobby Bacala, is gonna go back to being Uncle Junior's driver. After the season, their gonna need a coach, they need a quarterback.
"The Vegas Raiders with Deion and his son, like I'm in. That would be great. The merch would be the number one merch, the Sanders, hard knocks, ten-year contract, like let's go! What are we waiting for?"
Coach Prime has said in the past that he would be intimately involved in his sons' NFL futures, and the most persistent link has been to the Las Vegas Raiders franchise.
