Shedeur Sanders emerged as one of the best college football players in the Colorado Buffaloes' history. His 2024 season got brighter as the Buffaloes managed to set the college stage on fire and it has earned him one of college football’s highest honors.

The Buffaloes quarterback was awarded the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, recognizing the top upperclassman quarterback in the nation, during a ceremony in Baltimore. Deion Sanders graciously acknowledged the honor, expressing pride in his son and the quarterback of his team with a message:

"I'm proud of you son....Let's finish strong."

While he established himself as one of the top names in the college football arena, fans aren’t completely convinced he deserved the award. Some fans offered support and wishes to him on the big achievement, unlike others who thought it was because he was Coach Prime’s son. One fan who didn't like it wrote:

"Cringe nepo baby."
"Congrats Shedeur! Hell ya! Keep it going!," another wrote.
"Wonder why Ward didn’t win it," added another.
"Congratulations #2!," wrote another thrilled supporter.
"How did Carson Beck, Jalen Milroe, or Jaxon Dart not win this?," one fan asked.
Another added, "Congrats on throwing 80 passes a game lol."

It’s no surprise Sanders’ numbers have been turning heads, leading the nation in completion percentage (74.2%) and ranking among the top three in passing yards (3,926) and touchdowns (35). His record-breaking 438-yard, five-touchdown game against Oklahoma State strengthened his place in Colorado’s history books while also earning him the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year award earlier this week.

Will Coach Prime decide Shedeur Sanders' fortune in 2025 NFL Draft?

The 2025 NFL draft buzz is already heating up, and Shedeur Sanders is enjoying his part of it. The projections have placed him as a potential Top 5 pick, or even the coveted No. 1 overall at times. However, the question arises- will his father, Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders, play a decisive role in determining his next move?

During the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award ceremony in Las Vegas, Shedeur Sanders shared a moment with Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce. Deion Sanders, never one to shy away from a spotlight or a statement, made his intentions clear.

"Now I just need you to do one thing," he said to Pierce with a grin, adding, "I need you to draft those Sanders boys next year."

The crowd erupted into cheers, and Pierce’s response only added fuel to the speculation that Shedeur could find a new home in Las Vegas next year:

"Where they at? Where they at?"

With the Raiders currently holding the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL draft and Shedeur Sanders’ visible interest in the team, the connection seems more than just coincidental. Shedeur’s draft stock is soaring and the possibility of him donning silver and black just gained more traction than ever.
