Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has accepted an invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl, the Shrine Bowl announced Wednesday. However, Sanders is one of six Colorado players invited to the postseason all-star game, including wide receivers Jimmy Horn Jr., LaJohntay Wester and Will Sheppard, and safeties Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig and Shilo Sanders.
With so many members of the Buffaloes confirmed to participate in the game, fans are starting to take notice. Many commented on X (formerly Twitter) that it is starting to feel like it might be Colorado versus everyone else this year.
"Oh this might be CU vs Everybody this year I see lol," one fan wrote.
"Wow, it's a CU Buffs Football takeover at this year's Shrine Bowl," another commented.
"Just call it CU-East Shrone Bowl," one fan added.
Other fans commented on how it was surprising that Shedeur Sanders would accept the invite. He is projected to go top five in the 2025 NFL draft, and this is not an event projected top picks usually attend.
"That's interesting for sure. I wouldn't have guessed he'd participate. Pretty cool bc that will provide more visibility to some of the other players there," one fan wrote.
"Nothing against you guys, but why is a recruit this high entertaining playing in one of these games?" another commented.
"This is huge. I love that the big players aren’t skipping out on these invites," one fan added.
When is the East-West Shrine Bowl?
The rest of the players confirmed to be attending will be announced as they accept their invites. The game does not take place until Jan. 30 and will be held at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys. It will be interesting to see if any other Colorado Buffaloes players attend the game. The most notable missing player from the team is two-way star Travis Hunter.
What's next for Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes?
While Shedeur Sanders and many of his teammates will attend the Shrine Bowl, there is still lots of football to be played before it takes place. The No. 16-ranked Colorado Buffaloes (8-2) are coming off a 49-24 win over Utah that brought them into a tie with No. 14-ranked BYU at the top of the Big 12.
They still have two games to play before they can compete in the Big 12 championship game if they qualify, that is.
