The Oregon Ducks are officially members of the Big Ten and head coach Dan Lanning is excited about it. Lanning is set for his third year as the coach of the Ducks as he led the school to a 12-2 record last season, with both losses to Washington as Oregon made it to the Pac-12 championship game.

Going into the Big Ten, Lanning knows there is pressure on Oregon, who are one of the favorites to win the conference and compete for a national championship.

Heading into his Big Ten debut, Lanning said nothing changes as football is football, but he's eager to compete in the Big Ten. Lanning said on The Joel Klatt Show:

"Well, for me, it hasn't changed. You know, football is football. But my favorite part is being in the middle of a fight with our guys, you know, out there on the grass. I'm the weird guy that enjoys practice, enjoys development, like seeing these guys in the meeting room grow.
"So for me, it's been around our players, you know that that part, the love for football, that part hasn't changed."

Oregon opens its 2024 season against Idaho on Aug. 31. The Ducks will have notable games against Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Washington, and Michigan State among others.

Dan Lanning believes Oregon needs to win in the trenches in the Big Ten

In Oregon's first year in the Big Ten, head coach Dan Lanning knows the Ducks need to get physical to have success in the trenches. Lanning knows toughness and running the ball is key to the Big Ten and he feels like he has built a solid team through the trenches.

"The reality of winning football when you're a team like Oregon and the position you want to put yourself at the end of the year, you've got to win in the trenches at the end of the year, not just in the middle of the year, ..." Lanning explained, via Autenzoo. "A lot of people ask me, what's different about going to the Big Ten? I hear it's a lot more physical."

Dan Lanning and Oregon are -300 to make the college football playoff which implies a 75% chance. The Ducks also have the third-best odds of winning the national championship at +800 which implies a 11.1% chance of it happening.
