Former ESPN "College GameDay" host David Pollack posted on X questioning whether the Miami Hurricanes looked like a playoff team this upcoming season. The Hurricanes were once a top contender in college football and were at the peak of their success during the early 2000s.
However, over the years, the Miami Hurricanes have lost their golden touch. Since 2003, they only had one season with 10 or more wins. They won their last national championship in 2001. And last season, they put together a 7-6 overall campaign along with a Pinstripe Bowl loss to Rutgers.
After questioning the ACC program's chances at the playoffs, David Pollack followed up with his own breakdown of how the Hurricanes will fare this upcoming season. With the new 12-team playoff and conference realignment in place, the former "College GameDay" host believes that the program possesses all the necessities to be a great team, but he still does not trust them fully.
Pollack wrote that the Miami Hurricanes possess the quarterback and offensive talent to score on the field. This offseason, they secured former Washington State quarterback Cam Ward.
Furthermore, Pollack believes that the ACC program also has a strong defensive foothold. However, despite the talents in the program, head coach Mario Cristobal has not been able to live up to the expectations set for him with the program. Cristobal was hired from Oregon following his successful stint with them. However, so far in his two seasons with the Miami Hurricanes, he has only been able to put together a 12-13 overall record.
Miami Hurricanes release all-black Adidas uniforms for 2024 season
With the all-black color concept becoming a staple in college football, Cristobal's team joined the bandwagon. Amid their preparations for the 2024 season, the Hurricanes also released their own all-black Adidas uniforms for the upcoming season.
In a video shared on social media, the program flaunted its new uniforms with the white, orange and black color combination. It showcased the players posing with the all-black Adidas jersey representing the color code of the Hurricanes.
The upcoming season is going to be a crucial one for Cristobal. If he cannot step up to help the Hurricanes be a playoff-contending team, then he may find himself in the hot seat with a looming question about his future with the program.
