Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders made one of the plays of the 2024 college football season during his team's 38-31 win against the Baylor Bears in Week 4 action. With his team down a touchdown, he heaved the ball to wide receiver LaJohntay Wester, who caught the pass to tie the game while crowded by two Baylor defenders.

Shedeur Sanders explains miraculous throw
Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter has been the most impressive player this season on both sides of the ball, leading to calls for him to be awarded the Heisman Trophy. Against the Baylor Bears, he was once again crucial.
The game-tying play by Shedeur Sanders was set up perfectly for LaJohnaty Wester, with Travis Hunter used as a decoy, leading to the overtime win.
During his postgame news conference, Shedeur revealed the reasoning behind the throw.
"We put Travis backside, he's going to get all the attention, and then LaJohntay's just going to be there, outside, one-on-one," Sanders said.
"They're not going to think we're going to throw him the ball because he's a shorter guy, probably in that situation. So then I roll left, everybody went in the middle of the end zone and I just trusted God. I threw it up to God, and God answered the prayer, for sure."
Wester was given room by the Bears defense, who focused on Hunter, and he caught the miracle throw that sent Folsom Field into raptures. During his postgame press conference, the Buffs wide receiver revealed his thought process.
“It was a Hail Mary,” said Wester. “I was one on one. I just ran down there. I see him (Shedeur) rolling out, and then I see the ball coming my way. As a receiver, your job is to make the quarterback right whether it’s a good ball or bad ball, and I just made a play on the ball.”
Shedeur Sanders has made a name for himself in the FBS for his strong arm and spectacular throws. The comments by LaJohntay Wester show that his wide receivers believe that anything is possible when he gets the ball in his hands.
