"Deion is not a real coach": CFB World drags Coach Prime through the mud as Billy Napier sits on the hot seat

Billy Napier faces the hot seat after a 1-2 start to the 2024 season. The college football world is buzzing over the future of the Florida Gators coach, and Deion Sanders is at the center of it.

An X post featuring Sanders, Lane Kiffin, Eliah Drinkwitz and Glenn Schumann drew outrage from fans who saw the current Colorado Buffaloes coach on the list of potential candidates to replace Napier.

One fan didn't hold back, declaring:

"Deion is not a real coach."

Another scoffed, "Florida is not a serious program if they even consider Deion."

The analysis didn’t stop there, with one fan tweeting, "I will burn everything sacred if Deon [Deion] sniffs Florida field."

"Hell would freeze over before Deion lands that job," said another.

"Why is Deion on this list so unserious," one fan tweeted.

Another fan quipped, “What has Sanders done to be even remotely considered?”

Napier's Gators will desperately try to turn things around, and their next chance comes against Mississippi State. The Bulldogs, like Florida, are reeling from their own 41-17 blowout loss against the Toledo Rockets.

Florida legend doesn't see Billy Napier surviving the season

There's quite a buzz in the college football landscape that Napier’s seat is getting hotter by the minute as the Gators stumble into Week 4 of the college football season. The 45-year-old has an overall of 12-16 since taking over in Gainesville.

Even Gators legend Emmitt Smith has doubts, which he mentioned on “The Up & Adams Show.”

“If coach is right that he has nothing to worry about, he can see a fourth year, kudos to him. But I’m not seeing it happen. I don’t see it happening. I think the losses are going to force the alumni, going to tick a lot of people off," Smith said, referencing disappointing defeats to Miami and Texas A&M.

However, Napier remains focused on moving forward. Ahead of this weekend’s game against Mississippi State, he said:

“We can’t live in the shoulda, coulda, woulda. ... We have an obligation to do our best this week.”

While the 45-year-old has shown a positive attitude lately in his press conferences, the game schedule doesn't give the Gators any respite. When October starts, Billy Napier will have to face the No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Georgia, No. 5 Ole Miss, No. 16 LSU and the Kentucky Tigers, who have always put up a tough fight.
