Colorado safety Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig was part of an improved defense that helped the Buffaloes finish the 2024 season with a 9-4 record. On Sunday, Silmon-Craig announced that he would declare for the 2025 NFL draft alongside teammates, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman winner, Travis Hunter.
In his Instagram post, the Buffs safety thanked Coach Prime for giving him the opportunity.
"To coach Livingstone, coach Mathis and Coach Prime, thank you all for pushing me every day to be a better player while always pushing me to be a better man," Silmon-Craig wrote. "I can't thank you all enough."
Deion Sanders had a two-word reaction to Silmon-Craig's farewell post.
"My Dawg," Deion Sanders wrote.
Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig on Buffs future
Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, and Travis Hunter were among the players who transferred from the Jackson State Tigers to the Colorado Buffaloes in 2022, joining Deion Sanders.
Their first season in Boulder ended 4-8, but the team rebounded to finish 9-4 in 2024, becoming bowl-eligible for the first time since 2016.
During his weekly news conference before Colorado's Alamo Bowl clash against the BYU Cougars, Silmon-Craig said he and his teammates had kickstarted Colorado's period of success.
"So we didn't get a chance to play for a Big 12 championship or a national championship, but we still want to see that happen here," Silmon-Craig said.
"We still want these guys to go do something. I talk to the newcomer freshmen, the early enrollees guys all the time, just because they're building something here. We're really building something. We are the guys that you'll remember that started this."
Nine class of 2025 signees, including quarterback Julian Lewis, were with the team for their Alamo Bowl clash against BYU on Dec. 28 and Silmon-Craig gave his early impressions on their future with the Buffs.
“It’s been wonderful seeing the guys come in with a hunger,” Silmon-Craig said. “They all caught on with how we get things done … These guys are very quiet, just trying to listen and learn. I’m going to be so happy for these guys coming in, they’re going to do some big things.”
Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig tallied 64 solo tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and three passes defended this season.
