The Colorado Buffaloes had a tough time during the 2022 season, finishing with a disappointing 1-11 overall record. After this challenging season, the program hired Deion Sanders from Jackson State as the new head coach. Additionally, Sanders's sons, Shedeur and Shilo, as well as Travis Hunter, joined the Buffs team.
The Buffs were off to a fiery start in 2023, winning the first three games. However, they failed to maintain this momentum, resulting in a 4–8 debut campaign. This led to Coach Prime receiving a lot of criticism as well as questions about the future of the program.
Deion Sanders used the offseason to revamp the Buffs' coaching staff and roster ahead of their Big 12 reunion. While many fans and experts still doubt his abilities to lead the Buffs, American rapper Uncle Luke believes in Coach Prime's abilities to lead the program to success.
"@DeionSanders they don't understand they think we just started doing this yesterday," he wrote in the caption.
Uncle Luke and Coach Prime have known each other for a while now. In January, the rapper visited the Colorado team and took a tour of the program's facility along with Deion Sanders. Last year, he also announced his role in the documentary series 'Coach Luke', where Deion Sanders worked as one of the producers.
Former Colorado coach makes his prediction for Deion Sanders' 2024 season
During the Big 12 media days, former Colorado interim head coach Mike Sanford thinks this will be an interesting year for the program after the off-season changes made by Coach Prime. Sanford added that the Buffs can now compete for a Big 12 title and qualify for the bowl games.
"It's going to be really an interesting season," Sanford said. "I think fair expectations are, without a question, a bowl game.
"I think if the offensive line is as advertised, if they're able to find effective tight ends in the run blocking side of things, and as dynamic pass catchers, I think this team can compete, especially in this league being as wide open as it is, I think this team can compete for a Big 12 championship." (9:01 onwards)
Deion Sanders has a lot to prove in his second season in Boulder. Can Colorado go on to be a strong contender in the conference in their Big 12 reunion debut?
