The Colorado Buffaloes have six wins for the first time since 2016, proving Prime Time's magic is indeed doing wonders for the team. With that momentum, they are also bringing out some great talents with bright NFL futures.

One of those is wide receiver LaJohntay Wester, who transferred to Colorado this season after spending four years at Florida Atlantic. He hasn't given up an inch, and CU coach Deion Sanders recently took a moment to honor the hard work he's shown.

In a team meeting after Colorado’s big 34-23 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, Coach Prime addressed his players, highlighting Wester's commitment and passion for the game that truly won him over.

"We don’t give you nothing, because if we give it to you, we can take it back from you," Sanders said. "But if you earn it, it’s yours, right? So, he just kept his head down and just earned it. Don’t flinch, he don’t trip, he just goes out there and gives 100% in practice as well as the game, so I just felt obligated going into this bye week to bless him, OK?”

As Coach Prime wrapped up his speech, he revealed a special jersey with LaJohntay Wester's name on it, but this time it wasn’t his usual No. 10 — it was No. 1. Going forward, Wester will wear the iconic No. 1 jersey for 23rd-ranked Colorado’s remaining games this season.

Coach Prime’s surprise gesture touched the standout wide receiver, who couldn’t hold back his excitement. Wester celebrated with some killer dance moves as his teammates cheered him on. He then joined Deion Sanders on stage, sharing a proud hug before the coach handed him over the new jersey.

Wester then offered some inspiring words to his teammates:

“All night, early morning — got to keep your head down, man. If you want something, you’ve got to go get it, bro. That's the main purpose of this.”

With Colorado stars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter making waves this season, LaJohntay Wester’s breakout performances have placed him right behind them.

LaJohntay Wester broke out last season with Florida Atlantic, notching 108 receptions for 1,168 yards and eight touchdowns over 12 games. His impressive stats caught Coach Prime’s eye as he rebuilt the Buffaloes’ roster, making sure Wester found a place on the Colorado squad.

In his first season at Colorado, Wester has played all eight games, racking up 39 receptions for 501 yards and scoring seven touchdowns. He’s proven to be one of the team’s top wideouts and a solid NFL prospect for the 2025 draft.

With four games left in the season and Colorado sitting at 6-2, LaJohntay Wester will be pushing to keep his numbers up and his team’s playoff hopes alive.
