It’s not known how Sanders and Jarrett became friends. However, both are based in Atlanta, and Deion Sanders also has a connection with the Falcons. Last year, Deiondra Sanders posted pictures of herself at Jarrett’s 30th birthday.

What is the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award?

The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award is an annual honor presented to recognize a player's outstanding commitment to philanthropy, community impact and excellence on the field. A player is nominated per NFL team for the ward every year.

“The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award is the league’s most revered honor, recognizing players who excel on the field and demonstrate a steadfast commitment to creating a positive impact beyond the game,” NFL.com writes.

Generally, the Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination is awarded to individuals who exemplify the following qualities:

#1, Excellence in performance on the field.

#2, A strong dedication and commitment to community initiatives during the calendar year.

#3, A history of consistent involvement in community efforts over the years

#4, Unwavering integrity and a lifestyle centered on giving back and serving as a positive role model.

Why does Grady Jarrett deserve a nomination?

Grady Jarrett’s commitment to charity and community development has once again earned him the nomination, marking his second after getting nominated in 2019. The Clemson alum has been involved in a host of humanitarian efforts this year.

Jarrett made a significant impact with one of his largest donations in June, awarding $70,000 in scholarships to support young students from underprivileged backgrounds in pursuing their academic aspirations.

In his annual "Grady Gives Weekend," Grady raised over $150,000 this year to support the Atlanta community. Beyond that, he co-hosted a charitable event where he walked the runway alongside pediatric cancer patients, contributing to an effort that raised more than $700,000.

Jarrett lost to Calais Campbell in 2019, but he will be hoping to claim the honor this time.
