Deiondra Sanders gives her take on new defense bill

Coach Prime’s daughter gave a one-word opinion on the latest U.S. government defense bill. Taking to Instagram, Deiondra’s take was simple:

The new bill makes it automatic and mandatory for men aged 18 to 26 to register for the military draft. This bill, approved by a 22-3 vote in the committee on Friday, will now advance to the Senate. If passed by both the Senate and the House, it will be put in front of the president for signing.

The military draft, officially known as the selective service, hasn’t been invoked in over 50 years. However, it remains mandatory for all male U.S. citizens to register when they turn 18. If one fails to do so, it’s classified as a felony, making the person vulnerable to legal actions.

Adding to this, the Senate Armed Forces Committee has proposed its own version of the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes extending draft eligibility to women. However, that’s not present in the version passed by the House of Representatives.
