Shedeur Sanders undoubtedly is one of the most scrutinized quarterbacks in college football. This is probably due to the personality of his father, Deion Sanders, and the hated antics of his Colorado team.

Deion Sanders Jr. outlined the double standard against Shedeur Sanders on X following the performance of Penn State quarterback Drew Allar in the Orange Bowl game against Notre Dame. Allar struggled in the passing game in the contest, locating none of his wide receivers throughout.

The conversation started after a user defended Drew Allar on his interception throw in the game, blaming the offensive lineman. Another user, however, objected to the opinion, believing the blame was on Allar for drifting in a clean pocket.

Deion Jr. responded by noting the hypocrisy that exists in analyzing players and how players are treated differently based on their status or reputation.

"Yall already know they gone protect their chosen ones and make every excuse in the world for them while tearing Cam & my brother into pieces."

Drew Allar was touted for QB1 over Shedeur Sanders ahead of the Orange Bowl

Shedeur Sanders has been considered for a while by many analysts as the first quarterback off the board in the 2025 NFL draft. However, ahead of the Penn State Orange Bowl game against Notre Dame, the buzz around Drew Allar rose significantly.

There were reports of Allar being on the radar of many NFL teams and he could go as early as being the first pick. This is despite the quarterback announcing his intention to return to college football for another season in December. This was first reported by Pete Thamel.

“Sources: Penn State star quarterback Drew Allar has informed the school’s coaching staff of his intention to return to school for his senior year in 2025,” Thamel wrote on X. “Allar is 21-5 as a Penn State starter and would loom as one of the faces of college football in 2025.”

Drew Allar subsequently explained why he decided to return to Penn State for another season. He noted that he made extensive consultation before arriving at his final decision to forego the draft.

"For me personally, it was a football decision, and that's how I have always been operating," Allar said of his decision to return. "Me and my family had extensive talks about it and weighed everything, and personally I came to the conclusion myself that I feel like it's best for my future."

With his performance in the Orange Bowl, it became clear that Allar's decision to return for another season was the right option. It enables him to refine his game much better for the professional stage.

Despite being seen as the most pro-ready quarterback in the draft, Shedeur Sanders might not be the first quarterback pick in 2025. This is because he won't be open to landing in some teams that are high up in the draft order.
