Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders won the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award on Friday, for his stellar outings with the Buffs this season. The signal-caller took to Instagram to flaunt his achievement and Shedeur received plenty of congratulatory messages from his family and close friends.
Even Shedeur's brother Deion Sanders Jr. and his Colorado teammate Travis Hunter reacted to the Buffs QB's IG post.
"Legendary," Deion Jr. commented.
Hunter, on the other hand, simply wrote:
"Hmmm😏"
Shedeur finished the regular season with incredible numbers. The Colorado star completed 337 of 454 passes for 3,925 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also added four rushing touchdowns on 91 carries in 12 games for the Buffs.
After picking up his Golden Arm Award, Shedeur praised God and also thanked the committee for recognizing his performances.
"I just want to thank God for this opportunity," Shedeur said. "It was tough looking back, just being at HBCU, coming to Power 5. People don’t respect how you played, they don’t respect the things you did not because of me, but because of Pops, because of Dad. They just didn’t like him.”
Notably, Shedeur is also in the running to win the Heisman Trophy. However, reports suggest that his teammate Hunter is the frontrunner for the coveted college football honor.
Shedeur Sanders is expected to lead Colorado's offense one last time in the Buffs' bowl game
Last week, Colorado coach Deion Sanders insisted that his big stars will play in the Buffs' bowl game later in December. Coach Prime's comments suggest that Shedeur Sanders will lead the offense for Colorado one last time before the quarterback potentially declares for the NFL draft next year.
Many analysts and fans believe Shedeur could go as a top-10 pick in the first round in 2025. The Colorado quarterback will look to boost his draft stock even further in CU's bowl game.
