Colorado coach Deion Sanders shared his concern for Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. During their 21-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, Watson was sidelined from the game due to a season-ending Achilles injury.
In a tweet Sanders shared on X, he prayed for a speedy recovery. Watson began his NFL career with Houston in 2017. He was traded to the Browns in 2022.
"Praying for @deshaunwatson feverently," Coach Prime wrote
Deshaun Watson suffered from a gruesome injury during a non-contact play in the second quarter on the field. While he tried to run with the ball after taking a snap out of the shotgun, the quarterback's calf looked like it gave up on him. He immediately went down with pain.
Watson was attended for a few minutes on the field by the medical team before being carted to the locker room. While Browns coach Kevin Stefanski and fans are waiting on an official update on Watson's injury, he believes that it is season-ending for the quarterback.
Before his injury, Deshaun Watson tallied 1,148 passing yards and five touchdown passes for his team, despite winning just one of the seven games. Dorian Thompson-Robinson replaced him during the Bengals game and will be expected to take on the starting QB duties if Watson is unavailable.
Will Deion Sanders and the Buffs qualify for the bowl games this season?
Deion Sanders has already bested his last season's 4-8 campaign with the Buffs. After their Week 8 triumph against Arizona, the Buffs are just one win away from qualifying for the bowl games (5-2).
The Buffs have five more regular-season games remaining. If they can win next week's showdown against the Cincinnati Bearcats, they'll secure a berth for this year's bowl games. This will be their first bowl appearance since 2020.
With how unpredictable the season has been so far, Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes could potentially also be a contender for the 12-team playoffs. However, they would have to go on a winning spree and emerge victorious in the remaining games of the season.
Both Coach Prime's sons, Shedeur and Shilo, will declare for the NFL draft next year. Thus, they will be looking forward to ending their collegiate career on a high.
