Deion Sanders posted a heartfelt message for Colorado superfan Peggy Cobbom on her 100th birthday. Coach Prime took to his Instagram story and uploaded a picture with Miss Peggy, with a message that read:
"Happy 100th birthday Ms. Peggy! We love you and appreciate you! @CUBUFFSFOOTBALL"
Miss Peggy was born on Nov. 19, 1924. She began attending Colorado games in the 1940s and developed a friendship with Coach Prime during his first season at the helm in 2023.
The Buffs also celebrated Miss Peggy's special 100th birthday on Saturday, when the Colorado hosted Utah at Folsom Field. She was in attendance for the game as the Buffs won 49-24 and she received an honorary gift as the entire crowd in the arena serenaded her with "Happy Birthday."
Miss Peggy used to attend Colorado games with her twin sister Betty. The two were season ticket holders for decades. Betty passed away in 2020, but Peggy continues to hold onto her family tradition.
Notably, Sanders also promised Miss Peggy that Colorado would play in a bowl game this year, which he has fulfilled. Coach Prime has also put the Buffs in contention to reach the College Football Playoff this season.
Deion Sanders' Colorado will keep an eye on College Football Playoff spot by finishing the 2024 season on a high
Deion Sanders has done a fine job with the No. 16 Colorado Buffaloes (8-2, 6-1 Big 12) this season. The Buffs have a great opportunity of reaching the playoffs if they win their two remaining regular-season games.
In his first season, Sanders led Colorado to a dismal 4-8 record, as the team failed to qualify for a bowl game. The Buffs have shown a considerable improvement in his second year.
Colorado also has two Heisman Trophy contenders in two-way star Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders. This is likely to help the team get a boost in the AP Poll in the coming weeks.
Sanders' Colorado will travel to face Kansas on Saturday in its penultimate game of the regular season.
