Deion Sanders reportedly received $400,000 in bonuses in 2024 for coaching the Colorado Buffaloes. An image was shared on Twitter that revealed his total bonuses for 2024. It also reported that Sanders received a $100,000 bonus for getting Colorado to seven wins in the season. On top of that, it claims that Coach Prime will receive another $100,000 for each additional win.
However, Coach Prime went on Twitter to deny the report. He tweeted this:
"All my kids Deiondra Sanders, Deion Sanders Jr, Shilo Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, Shelomi Sanders and Travis Hunter. Family and loved 1z. This ain't true. God bless u."
While Sanders denies that he is receiving this bonus, he is still one of the highest-paid coaches in college football. He is paid $5.7 million annually as the coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. Additionally, his contract says he will get a $450,000 bonus if his team is invited to a playoff bowl game.
Shedeur and Deion Sanders joke about his rumored bonuses
Deion Sanders and his son Shedeur, who is also the quarterback of the Colorado Buffaloes, joked about his rumored bonuses. In an interview, Shedeur asked his father about the rumored bonus (per Yahoo Sports):
"I heard you get like, you know $100k extra per win. Where mine at?"
Coach Prime responded:
"I don't know what y'all talking about."
What’s next for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes?
The No. 18-ranked Colorado Buffaloes (7-2) defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders 41-27 on Saturday. The win moved Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes into sole possession of second place in the Big 12 standings. As a result, if the Buffaloes win their final three games, they are guaranteed a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game.
The Buffaloes started the final stretch of the season with a game against the Utah Utes on Saturday. They will travel to Kansas next week to face the Jayhawks on Nov. 23 before traveling back home to host Oklahoma State in the final game of the regular season on Nov. 29.
Although they could make the championship game with a loss, it is less likely. A loss means that any team with two conference losses (Arizona State, Iowa State, Kansas State, and West Virginia) could tie them in the standings. As a result, the final spot in the championship game would come down to a tiebreaker.
