Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a bad game in a 28-10 defeat to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday. Shedeur took a hit to the head in the fourth quarter, forcing him to leave the field before the game was over, compounding a torrid evening for the Buffs.

In the aftermath of the game, Shedeur, who threw a pick-six that was meant for freshman wide receiver Drelon Miller early in the game, called the action a "rookie mistake," with college football fans taking that to mean that he was blaming his teammate.

In a clip posted on "Overtime's" IG page, the Buffs quarterback clarified his comments from the Nebraska game on his podcast "2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders."

"I can understand and that's definitely my fault for even giving them room to even be able to play tricks on words," Shedeur said. "I think they just took it and ran with it whatever way they wanted to, you know, what would probably get them the most clicks or whatever.
"I remember saying it was a rookie mistake. I didn't say the rookie made a mistake. I'm saying that's a rookie mistake like that's childish, I should've never done that (make that throw)."

Shedeur Sanders not bothered by fans throwing shade at him

Shedeur Sanders has had a mixed start to the 2024 college football season, with a great performance against the North Dakota State Bison that included four touchdown passes before a one-touchdown performance against Nebraska in week two.

He has completed 68.1% of his passes for 689 yards, resulting in five touchdowns and two interceptions already this season. Last season, the Buffs quarterback only threw three interceptions.

Sanders said he isn't bothered by college football fans criticizing him for his performances and his comments after the loss to the Cornhuskers.

"But I'm not going to go on social media and go argue with them fans about that. I have, and am thankful to have, a platform to where I'm able to really express and say what was actually said instead of people just making up stories and just doing anything just to kind of divide the team," Shedeur said via The Coloradoan.
"But I put that on myself also because I gave them the room to where I could understand why they took it like that. But that wasn't the intention, though."

The spotlight will continue to shine on Deion Sanders' program in Colorado as the flamboyant coach enters his second year, but it will shine even brighter on Shedeur Sanders as the draft year approaches.
