"Deion Sanders is a superstar but Colorado is nothing": Paul Finebaum rips Big 12 school for being in a "third-rate" league

College football analyst Paul Finebaum has once again ripped into coach Deion Sanders and his Colorado team. Sanders is entering his second season as the coach of the Buffaloes, who went 4-8 last season.

Sanders and Colorado were the talk of college football in 2023 as the Buffaloes started the year 3-0. However, Colorado went 1-8 down the stretch to finish with a losing record. Heading into the 2024 season, Finebaum went on ESPN's "Get Up" Wednesday morning to predict Colorado's record.

The analyst doesn't think the program will have success in the upcoming season, as the analyst revealed the biggest problem he has with the program.

"I think they're looking at about a .500 season record which isn't all that impressive when you consider the amount of energy and hype and overhype I should say to this program," Finebaum said. "Deion Sanders is a superstar we all know that. But Colorado is nothing. They're just another school in the middle of nowhere in a third-rate league.
"The problem I have with Deion Sanders is his attitude. Last year he embraced it he was the king of college football for five weeks. He's already off to a terrible start. He started a food fight last weekend with the local media which is a big mistake. He's very defensive and I think he's in for a very difficult second year in Boulder."

Colorado is also entering the Big 12 in 2024, which adds some struggles to its schedule.

Deion Sanders gets into it with the media

Deion Sanders recently was under fire by many media members after he criticized the local media.

At a press conference, Sanders said he wasn't going to answer questions from a local CBS affiliate.

“You don’t like us, man. Why do you do this to yourself?” Sanders said to a reporter (via BroBible). “I’m serious. Why do you do this? You know you don’t [like us]… It would be really hard for me to engage with someone I don’t like or something I don’t like. I’m just asking, why? What did I do? You’re always on the attack. What did we do to you?”

A reporter from CBS then tried to ask him a question, and Sanders once again shot that down.

“CBS? I’m not doing anything with CBS, next question,” he said after the reporter announced his affiliation. “It ain’t got nothing to do with you. It’s above you.”

After the press conference, many people were critical of Sanders for his comments and for not answering questions from some reporters.

Colorado is set to open its season on Aug. 29 against North Dakota State.
