Deiondra Sanders's father, Deion Sanders, praises Kenny Dillingham on Peach Bowl performance
The Peach Bowl was by far the most thrilling encounter of this year's College Football Playoff, with the Texas Longhorns beating the Arizona State Sun Devils 39-31 on Wednesday after a fourth quarter and two overtimes that were some of the most exhilarating football played this year.
Kenny Dillingham's team made a complete U-turn in 2024, something for which Deion Sanders decided to praise the young Sun Devils coach through social media on Wednesday:
"You represented all of us from the Big 12 well, my brother," Sanders posted on social media. We are proud of you and your team. God bless you all. You’re awesome. COTY [Coach of the Year]." Dillingham replied: "Thank you coach!"
At the start of the second half, it seemed like Texas would have an easy time winning, as they led 17-3. However, suddenly, Arizona State's offense got clicking and they took the game into overtime following two failed field goals by Bert Auburn.
Having scored first in overtime, it seemed they were about to stop the Longhorns during fourth and 13 yards, but Quinn Ewers put Texas back in the game with a 25-yard touchdown pass. An almost immediate touchdown followed, with a two-point conversion in their next drive. When the Sun Devils took the ball back, the Longhorns were able to intercept it to end the game.
Deion Sanders's team is coming off a disappointing postseason defeat. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter couldn't match the BYU Cougars' output in the Alamo Bowl. Sanders' team lost 36-14.
