Coach Prime set the record straight about the rumor of him getting a $400,000 bonus for his winning run with No. 18 Colorado. While comically denying the allegations of receiving a big paycheck to his followers on X, Deion Sanders also tagged his children who were questioning the lucrative deal.
Sanders' eldest daughter Deiondra tweeted a pair of eyes emoji reaction to Coach Prime's post on Friday and wrote:
"Lol."
Per reports, Sander signed a five-year, $29.5M contract with Colorado when he was appointed as coach in Dec. 2022. This excludes his incentives and bonuses.
This season, Colorado (7-2, 5-1 Big 12) has a chance of making it to the playoffs. However, there was intrigue around Sanders' bonuses after the Buffs secured bowl eligibility.
The Buffaloes beat Cincinnati in Week 9 to register their sixth win of the season and confirm a bowl game. Colorado also beat Texas Tech in Week 11 to improve its rankings in the AP Poll.
Earlier this week, USA Today reported that Sanders had made a bonus of $100,000 for Colorado's seventh win of the year and will be paid an additional $100,000 for each win moving forward. The report also claimed that the coach has already made $400,000 in bonuses so far this season.
Most of his family members were keen to know if the figures were true, but Sanders swiftly put an end to those rumors on Thursday.
As things stand, Colorado has a chance of making it to the 12-team College Football Playoff. The Buffs can likely qualify for the playoffs if they win their three remaining regular season games.
Deiondra Sanders and Jacquees' son Snow shares birthday with Coach Prime
Deion Sanders became a grandfather on Aug. 9 when Deiondra and her fiance Jacquees welcomed a baby boy named Snow. Notably, Coach Prime's grandson was born exactly 57 years after him, to the day.
Deiondra and Jacquees also met with Deion after Colorado's game against Cincinnati at Folsom Field. It was Snow's first time attending a football game.
