Ohio State coach Ryan Day has provided a Devin Brown injury update. The sophomore backup quarterback sustained a right ankle injury during Saturday's 20-12 win over the then-No. 7 Penn State Nittany Lions.
Day said that Brown will be sidelined for at least one to two weeks on "Buckeye Roundtable." The exact nature of the injury hasn't been disclosed.
Brown came off the bench with the No. 3 Buckeyes at Penn State’s 6-yard line on second-and-goal. After faking a handoff, he ran toward the end zone, but the Penn State defense was ready to stop his attempt. The collision near the goal line resulted in a right ankle injury. Following the game, he was spotted leaving the stadium on crutches with his right foot in a walking boot.
Brown's role as a backup quarterback has been valuable to the offense for Ohio State (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) this season.
The Bucks face Wisconsin on Saturday but don't have a ranked team on their schedule until they visit the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines (8-0, 5-0) on Nov. 25 to conclude the regular season.
Ryan Day news conference ahead of Wisconsin clash
Ohio State coach Ryan Day addressed the media during his regular news conference on Tuesday, focusing on the team's upcoming game at the Wisconsin Badgers (5-2, 3-1) on Saturday.
“What matters is what is going on in this building and getting better," Day said. "That’s part of being at Ohio State, and we love that part of it because everything we do is relevant. We have to make sure we’re staying focused and avoiding all distractions.”
Despite the Badgers being unranked, they are the leaders in the Big Ten West.
“We’re expecting to have great weeks of practice out of those guys, expecting to have them ready on Saturday," Day said. "I know that I said that last week, and it didn’t quite get there, but we’re looking to have a really good week of practice and having those guys available.”
