When Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Warren Brinson, a senior from Savannah, took to the skies, fans on social media had plenty to say. Brinson, known for his impressive on-field performance that earned him a spot on the Senior Bowl Watch List last season, piloted a plane and shared his airborne adventure on his X account (formerly Twitter) on July 28.
The 19-second clip shows Brinson confidently handling the controls, soaring through the clouds:
This bold move prompted fans to playfully caution Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart, with comments like:
"Do NOT let them start flying planes, Kirby Smart."
Brinson's achievement fuels the optimism surrounding the Bulldogs' championship aspirations. As one fan tweeted alongside an impressive poster:
“Just need you on the cover now.”
The barrage of light-hearted banter continued.
“It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Warren Brinson!” Commented another fan.
"Oh no…. UGA players are flying now. Athens PD better get some planes." One tweeted.
“That’s dope fam, Dawgs gone be bringing home the Natty in a plane flown by Warren B,” another fan commented.
One fan humorously referenced Brinson's teammate Rara Thomas' speeding offenses, which came to light again after a July 11th violation:
“Bro is probably tracking one of his speeding teammates for the cops on the ground."
Brinson made a name for himself by playing in all 13 games and starting in four last season. With 21 tackles, including three for a loss and two sacks, he is a key player to watch.
Warren Brinson makes a comeback for Georgia's defensive powerhouse
Georgia's defensive powerhouse is set for a thrilling 2024 season as Warren Brinson, now in his fifth year, makes a comeback. Announcing his return in January through a heartfelt video on social media, Brinson rejoins a star-studded lineup featuring quarterback Carson Beck, offensive linemen Tate Ratledge and Xavier Truss, linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. and fellow defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse.
With Brinson and Stackhouse anchoring the defensive line, bolstered by rising talents like Christen Miller and Jordan Hall, Georgia is gearing up for an even stronger season. Coach Kirby Smart praised the veteran presence:
“I certainly didn’t sit on this podium last year this time thinking those two guys would be back. So, the fact they were was a luxury in terms of depth, but we still have to get better."
“If they stay the same, they did no good coming back. We’ve had multiple talks about how easy it is to get comfortable and complacent in these years, but they both have a purpose.” [H/T On3]
With the Georgia Bulldogs eyeing another playoff push, Brinson's return not only strengthens their defense but also gives him a chance to boost his draft prospects.
