Does Purdue play today?
Purdue doesn't play today as the Boilermakers have an open week in Week 9.
“We got to give them tomorrow off because of the short week," Walters said after Friday's loss, via OregonLive. "We’ll get in on Sunday and put the game to bed, watch the tape. We’ll practice early next week to get a jump start on Northwestern and add some new wrinkles here and there on offense and defense. Then at the end of that week we’ll get on the road recruiting.”
The Boilermakers will return to action at home on Nov. 2 against the Northwestern Wildcats. This marks Purude's final open week of the 2024 college football season.
Can Purdue make the College Football Playoff?
No, the Purdue Boilermakers can't make the college football playoff.
Purdue is 1-6 and doesn't have a chance of playing in the Big Ten championship game or the college football playoff. Instead, the focus for Purdue is to win five of its remaining six games to be bowl-eligible, but that seems unlikely.
"We're going to stick to our process," coach Ryan Walters said, via SI, clearly frustrated. "I'm confused as to why we would change our process."
CBS Sports has released its Bottom 25 rankings and Purdue was listed as the ninth-worst team. Remarkably, Purdue is the only Power Four team to crack the "Bottom 10" through the first two months of the 2024 season.
