Can the Texas A&M Aggies make the College Football Playoff?
The Texas A&M Aggies still have a shot at making the College Football Playoff, but they need to win out. The Aggies are 7-2 and ranked 14th in the playoff rankings, which is right near the 12 seed that is needed to get in.
Texas A&M still has a notable game against Texas, and if the Aggies can upset the Longhorns and finish the year 10-2 with wins over Texas and LSU, that could be enough to get them in the playoffs.
The Aggies currently have odds of +300 to make the College Football Playoff, which implies a 25% chance.
"Margin for error is out the window at this point, but that's OK. I think the margin for error is out the window for everybody when you get to this point in the season in the SEC," coach Mike Elko said, via Yahoo. "It's about taking it one game at a time and giving ourselves a change."
Elko also believes playing in the SEC and the Aggies' strength of schedule could help them reach the playoffs if they win out.
"We're fortunate to be playing in the SEC. Strength of schedule will always take care of itself. Opportunities to impress the committee will always exist. … Everything is about handling your business," Elko said.
But Texas A&M will likely be an underdog against Texas, so it is easier said than done.
