Alabama was the victim of one of the most surprising upsets of the season, losing to Vanderbilt 40-35. Many players got frustrated toward the end of the game, including Crimson Tide safety and captain Malachi Moore who had an outburst late in the 4th quarter. Moore received a penalty for kicking the football when Vanderbilt was set to kneel out the game clock.

This outburst capped several emotional instances from Moore in the final minutes of the game. While coach Kalen DeBoer understands that players can get frustrated, he does not support outbursts, especially from a team captain. He spoke about Moore's behavior after the game.

"The guy pours everything into what he does," DeBoer said. "Doesn't make it ok. We want to be first class in everything we do. There's a lot of guys who are really furstrated."
"I think the key is we turn those frustrations into positives moving forward and make sure we remember what we feel here tonight. Remember that tomorrow, and when we show up on Tuesday and Wednesday. All season long."

Moore might have been frustrated because his team lost despite him having the best statistical game of his season. He had 10 tackles, including 10 solo efforts in the game. This brings his season totals to 33 total tackles and 19 solo efforts.

Malachi Moore's teammates speak about his outburst

When the players spoke to the media after the game, many were asked about Malachi Moore's outburst. Some did not hide their displeasure, including another 5th-year player, linebacker Que Robinson.

"That was unacceptable," Robinson said.

BAMA captain and linebacker Deontae Lawson was understanding of Moore's outburst. He spoke about how it hurts more for 5th-year players to lose games like that.

"It hurts me when I see him like that," Lawson said. "That's my brother. I just look back and jsut think anything I could have done throughout the week, or even in the game to just make a play when we needed one. Anything to help our team win. That's just his emotions. Tough game, tough loss."

Alabama returns to action next week

Alabama needs to brush off its loss to Vanderbilt quickly as the Crimson Tide are back in action next week. They host the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday, October 12th at noon ET. Both teams will be looking to bounce back as the Gamecocks are also coming off a 27-3 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday.
