"Don't allow the foolishness to detour you": Deion Sanders bids adieu to Colorado RB with soulful advice

Deion Sanders took to X to see off his outgoing running back Alton McCaskill with some words of advice. This comes as McCaskill became the 14th Colorado player to enter the transfer portal since the window opened.

On Wednesday, the running back posted a statement on the social media platform thanking "Coach Prime" and others involved with the Colorado Buffaloes program for giving him the opportunity. In another tweet, he confirmed that it was his decision to enter the portal and he wasn't influenced by anyone to do so:

“My time at the University of Colorado was great and filled with plentiful opportunities. Also with the most talented players and the most insightful coaches. Thank you so much to Coach Prime and Coach Flea, for giving me this opportunity. And to fans for support."

The Colorado Buffaloes head coach commented on his post, giving him some advice:

“All good man and soar like u desire to and don't allow the foolishness of life to detour u. You have a gift, unwrap it and exercise it. Mama-neem depending on u man. Go Get it and keep GOD 1st."

Alton McCaskill had transferred from Houston last year to come and play in Boulder. But his 2023 season was plagued with injuries, affording him just four appearances where he carried the ball a total of 14 times and gained 59 yards for the team.

Deion Sanders hailed his Colorado team ahead of the 2024 Spring Game

Deion Sanders is working to get his Colorado team up to speed before the start of the 2024 season. The annual Spring Game is one such day when he can gauge his players’ readiness in game situations. The Buffaloes will take the field at the Folsom Field for the Spring scrimmage on April 27. In the buildup, the squad has been undertaking rigorous training sessions.

Deion Sanders hailed his squad for their hard work and complimented his coaching staff for leading on and off the field. All eyes will be on Boulder and Coach Prime during the Spring game and beyond as the journey in the Big 12 is about to begin.
