Christmas for the Colorado Buffaloes was anything but ordinary as the team along with Deion Sanders celebrated the day at San Antonio ahead of the Alamo Bowl game. Before the festivities started, Prime brought his signature charisma and humor to the Buffaloes' holiday celebrations.
In a YouTube video uploaded by "Thee Pregame Network," Coach Prime laid down some ground rules for the team’s Secret Santa gift exchange. The Buffaloes coach announced the team would be pulling names to determine who they would be gifting within their respective positions. However, a Sanders-style twist came as he announced that the gifts had to cost exactly $100 — no more, no less.
"Don’t give nobody a $20 gift, they give you $1!" Coach Prime said.
Taking it up a notch, Sanders added a high-stakes element to the exchange. If anyone received a subpar or "bull junk" gift, the giver would have to explain their choice to the entire team.
“Don’t get him no cheap gift,” he said, knowing full well that the embarrassment of standing up to justify a poor gift would keep everyone on their toes.
The team was also tasked with shopping for their gifts at the mall together, ensuring a fun and chaotic outing for the players.
Coach Prime gets another reason to celebrate than just Christmas
As the Colorado Buffaloes prepare to face BYU in the Alamo Bowl, Sanders isn’t just making headlines for his team’s success.
One of Coach Prime's major highlights has been the recognition of his iconic Nike Air DT Max ’96 sneaker, which was recently named Sneaker of the Year. The collaboration between Nike and Sanders adds to his legendary status, and he is gradually building as a coach in the college football landscape.
From the striking black, grey, silver, and fire red colorway inspired by his time with the Atlanta Falcons to the embroidered #21 jersey number and Sanders’ portraits on the outsoles, the sneaker is as much a celebration of his NFL career as it is a piece of fashion history.
The Nike Air DT Max ’96 has its own story. It reflects Sanders' trailblazing career, beginning with the Falcons, who gave him his first shot at greatness. Nike has done a remarkable job capturing this history, allowing fans to connect with Sanders’ journey through a design that symbolizes his persona.
Deion Sanders’ Christmas became about celebrating milestones, building legacies, and setting the stage for even greater achievements in the future.
