Deion Sanders had a better campaign this season with the Colorado Buffaloes than he did during his debut last year. Coach Prime helped the Buffs secure a 9-4 record and qualify for the Bowl games for the first time since 2020. Unfortunately, they couldn't cap their success with a Bowl game victory as BYU emerged victorious in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28.
Now, Deion Sanders is getting ready to bid farewell to some of his star players in the draft, including his sons Shedeur and Shilo Sanders. He appeared on the "Good Morning America" show on Wednesday to talk about his journey in Boulder and what he's learned through his experience in the FBS scene.
During the interaction, Deion Sanders shared a powerful message for his younger self. He also opened up about how humility plays a big part in bringing up his players on the team.
"Every morning, we start off with a morning message," Coach Prime said. "That I'm trying to navigate them through life... Life consists of multitude of moment ... But I would say to a younger version of myself cause now you're in the social media era, 'Don't listen to the sound of a fool.' Because you will get fooled." [2:10 onwards]
"Because there's so many people that have opinion of us right now and we allowing that. See I'm not attracted to hate. I'm attracted to love."
Deion Sanders shares some encouraging words for DeSean Jackson amidst his HBCU head coaching debut
Before joining the Buffs, Coach Prime made a name for himself in Jackson State. He helped change the fortune of the program and led them to back-to-back SWAC Championships, solidifying their status in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities scene.
Now, former NFL star DeSean Jackson is walking down the same path and trying to help another HBCU team make a name for itself. Jackson was hired as the new head coach of the Delaware State Hornets, which has not had a winning season since 2012. Before he embarks on this new journey, Coach Prime shared some words of encouragement for him.
"We've got to wrap our arms around this game changer and give him all the support he needs to become a successful college football coach. He knows the game, knows what it takes to make it to the next level and he knows right from wrong. @DeSeanJackson10 Love ya Man!," Coach Prime wrote.
After some success in his debut Big 12 campaign, Deion Sanders will now be looking to help his sons prepare for their upcoming NFL draft. He will then have to go back to the drawing room and help the Buffs gear up for potentially competing for the conference title and a playoff spot next season.
