The Penn State Nittany Lions have made it to the College Football Playoff semi-final, where they will play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for a spot in the National championship game. Penn State had easy wins over SMU and Boise State, with their offense being incredibly strong.

However, in the build up to the Nittany Lions' battle with the Fighting Irish, college football Insider RJ Young thinks Notre Dame could be the Achilles' heel to the Penn State offense.

" You stop Kaytron Allen. You stop Nic Singleton. You force Drew Allar to throw the football. You're probably going to win cause I don't trust Drew Allar to beat you."(4:52)

The Nittany Lions' offense has been a strong point for them this year, with their run game being especially good.

The pairing of Kaytron Allen and Nicolas Singleton have combined for over 2000 yards and have scored 17 touchdowns. They have been the main source of power for the Nittany Lions this year.

However, if they are against a strong defense, like Notre Dame, they will struggle, and this will affect the whole team as well. This was seen in Penn State's defeat to the Ohio State Buckeyes earlier in the season.

If this happens against Notre Dame, the team will be dependent on their quarterback, Drew Allar. While Allar has proven himself to be a good quarterback, he cannot lead to team on his own.

Could Drew Allar change his mind on the 2025 return?

Drew Allar has been able to lead the Nittany Lions for the last few seasons with a good amount of success. His 2024 will be one to remember and could potentially end in a national championship win.

However, unlike many of the quarterbacks who are likely to declare for the 2025 NFL draft, Allar has stated that he is going to return to the Nittany Lions for the 2025 season. This will mean that Allar will have one more chance to win the national championship next season.

However, the Athletic has reported that Allar's commitment to 2025 may be dependent on how the Nittany Lions get on in the CFP. The report states that some NFL executives think that, if Allar were to lead Penn State to a national championship this year, there is a chance that the quarterback will declare for the 2025 NFL draft.

Allar has not commented on the issue and remains committed to the Nittany Lions.
