Colorado Buffaloes fans are celebrating after the team secured bowl eligibility for the first time since 2016 with a thrilling 34-23 win over Cincinnati on Saturday. This victory marks a huge milestone in Year 2 under coach Deion Sanders, reflecting the team’s impressive progress.

“We’re on a wonderful journey,” Sanders said. “We know the direction we’re going."

The win had fans buzzing on social media.

“DONT YOU DARE DOUBT PRIME,” a fan posted on X.
“THEY DID IT,” another wrote.
“Where the '4-8 again' comments?” one comment read.
“Coach Prime is shutting a lot of people up this season,” a fan wrote.
“Finally,” another wrote.
“That’s exciting news for Colorado fans! Securing a bowl game is a big accomplishment, especially considering the turnaround the program has experienced,” a fan wrote.

For Colorado fans, this accomplishment is especially sweet, as they are celebrating a season that’s been nothing short of transformative.

Colorado under Deion Sanders marks a huge leap from last year

The Buffaloes surged to a 31-14 lead before Cincinnati mounted a late comeback. However, Alejandro Mata’s clutch field goal sealed the game, boosting Colorado to a 6-2 record and 4-1 in the Big 12. This impressive season under Deion Sanders marks a huge leap from last year’s 4-8 finish.

"It's cute, it really is. Because we really want that, but that's not all we're after," Deion Sanders said. "That's one of the hurdles that we're jumping over and going over.
"That's a tremendous hurdle that we're happy, we're excited, but that's not the end goal for us. That's the beginning, but we are thankful and appreciative that the hard work is going noticed."

After a challenging debut season, Sanders and Colorado are ready to make a strong push in the Big 12 championship race, thanks to some strategic roster upgrades via the transfer portal.

Currently, undefeated BYU (8-0, 5-0) and Iowa State (7-0, 4-0) lead the Big 12, with Kansas State (7-1, 4-1) and Colorado close behind.

On Oct. 12, Kansas State narrowly beat Colorado 31-28 in Boulder, but Colorado won’t face BYU or Iowa State during the regular season.

After an open week, the Buffaloes will return to action against Texas Tech on Nov. 9.
