Many fans mocked Florida State Seminoles quarterback DJ Uiagalelei's commercial with Circle K as part of his NIL deal. The FSU QB promoted 79-cent Polar Pops, which is a drink the convenience store sells.
In the video, Uiagalelei said it helps cool him down, but he didn't seem natural in the commercial and fans took aim at him.
College football fans took aim at Uiagalelei and his commercial with varied reactions.
"double cup polar pop is crazy," a fan wrote.
"I wonder how much he got paid to shill for circle k," a fan added.
Other fans, meanwhile, thought Uiagalelei looked awkward in the commercial for Circle K.
"cant believe i just watched all of this," a fan wrote.
"Russel Wilson vibes," a fan added.
Some college football fans also thought Uiagalelei should be paid a lot of money for the commercial.
"What NIL is all about! Damn now I want a polar pop!," a fan wrote.
"as long as that check clear," a fan wrote.
"Give this man an academy award now," one wrote.
DJ Uiagalelei explains why he transferred to FSU
DJ Uiagalelei was one of the top quarterbacks available in the transfer portal.
Uiagalelei was at Oregon State last season, after three years at Clemson. After just one year at Oregon State, he entered the transfer portal again and landed at FSU, which he says was the place he wanted to be.
"Going through the process again and being in the transfer portal, my eyes were set on one school. I wanted to be here at Florida State," Uiagalelei said at his introductory press conference, via SI.
"I'm just blessed and happy that coach Norvell, Coach Tony (Tokarz), everyone here on staff was excited to have me here and was able to choose to let me be here and let me be able to be a Seminole. So yeah, this is where I want to be, and I'm happy to be here."
Uiagalelei is expected to be the Seminoles' starting quarterback in 2024, as he replaces Jordan Travis, who was drafted into the NFL.
Last year at Oregon State, Uiagalelei went 180-for-315 for 2,638 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Uiagalelei and FSU will open their 2024 college football season on August 24 against Georgia Tech. The Seminoles have important games against Clemson, Duke, Miami, UNC, Notre Dame and Florida this season.
