Boston Eagles' Khari Johnson ejected for targeting

Boston College Eagles' defensive back Khari Johnson did not have the kind of game he would have expected on Thursday night. In a heated ACC clash between the Eagles and the Pittsburgh Panthers, it looked like Johnson's ability to make calculated tackles took a toss when he was ejected for targeting with a vicious helmet-to-helmet tackle.

During the second quarter of the game, Khari Johnson received a personal foul for the head-on collision and was immediately ejected in what looked like a classic textbook example of targeting. This led to CFB fans criticizing the defensive back and calling his actions out on social media:

"Dude is a menace", one fan stated.

Here are some of the other reactions to Johnson's gruesome foul on X that led to him being sidelined for the rest of the night in this heated ACC game:

What did Khari Johnson do that led to his ejection?

During the second half of the game, Pittsburgh QB Nate Yarnell was playing a snap out of their own 45-yard line on a first-and-10. After faking a handoff, he then tossed the ball down the field to TE Malcolm Epps.

While Epps was trying to receive the ball, he was already pressured by Boston's KP Price, leaving him little room to make the play. But Khari Johnson then dived in from the back and clashed with Epps head-on, which led to a penalty being called giving the Panthers 15 yards. This led to Johnson being ejected from the game.

In the end, the Pittsburgh Panthers secured the win for them, defeating the Boston College Eagles 24-16. This brought an end to their four-game losing streak, slowly climbing from the bottom of the ACC rankings.

Khari Johnson's college career

Johnson began his collegiate football career with the Arkansas Razorbacks as a three-star recruit in 2020. During his freshman season, he played in nine games and put up eight total tackles. After spending two more seasons with the Razorbacks, Johnson entered the transfer portal and committed to play for the Boston College Eagles.

In his debut season for the Eagles, Johnson so far has recorded 14 total tackles and one fumble recovery. Prior to getting ejected on Thursday night, he had two total tackles against the Panthers (one solo and one assisted).
