The much talked about EA Sports College Football 25 game's release on July 19 keeps drawing closer. Details about various modes that will be available to players continue to be revealed.
One of the most popular ones is Dynasty Mode, a feature that was carried over from the last released version of the game in 2013. Details about the new version were recently released by the franchise.
In the new version, players will be able to actively recruit players from the transfer portal, including their own team's players. They will also have to contend with scheduling visits for highly-rated recruits.
Another exciting aspect will be the ability to entice potential recruits with a risky text from the coach and making dynamic decision-making in terms of recruitment.
On3 analyst Andy Staples spoke about the incorporation of the NIL aspect in the Dynasty Mode of the College Football game during a podcast on the platform.
“Their thought was, ‘We’ve got a game that’s got to last us a year here. Let us incorporate brand building',” Staples said. “That’s really what stands in for NIL, from the coach's perspective. … You do have to think about that from a team perspective. Do you have the brand? Which stands in for — do you have the NIL war chest to get the kind of players you want?
“Are you meeting with guys about their NIL deals or do you have guys hitting you up for bigger NIL deals? No, not yet.”
EA Sports College Football had to deal with changes in the sport
The EA Sports College Football 25 game went into development in 2021 with the college game in a completely different arena to what it is now. The NIL era where student-athletes could earn from their names, images and likenesses changed everything in both the game and real life for the franchise.
During an interview with On3, the game's principal designer Ben Haumiller explained how the team had to adapt development to real-life college sports changes on the fly.
“We started, it was still a four-team playoff,” Haumiller said. “We started this and conference realignment hadn’t kicked into gear with this year. We started this and you could only transfer one time. We’ve had to make a lot of those adjustments and changes this entire time through to make the game current.”
The College Football game will adapt to changes including the new 12-team college football playoff. Also new is the aspect of student-athletes being able to transfer multiple times with no punishment from the NCAA.
Haumiller further revealed the difficulty of nailing down the NIL aspect of the game considering its ever-changing nature in real life.
“NIL is such a moving target,” Haumiller said. “That’s one that was really hard of us to see. ‘How do we want to do this?’ And we’re waiting until it kind of dies down, have something more concrete that we can build on.”
Fans of the franchise will be glad that the popular game will be as realistic as possible, sticking as close as possible to the way the modern real-life game looks like.
