Texas quarterback Arch Manning is giving Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian a hard time with his form as a stand-in for injured starting quarterback Quinn Ewers. Manning has been imperious, and he continued to show flashes of brilliance during his first start in the Southeastern Conference against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

In the 35-13 win, Manning went 26-of-31 for 324 yards on 83.9% completion, resulting in two touchdowns. He added 33 yards rushing with one touchdown.

After the game, the SEC Network posted a graphic showcasing the statistics from all four of the Mannings' debuts in college football: Archie, Peyton, Eli and Arch. Eli's statistics dwarfed all of the rest, as he threw five touchdowns in a 49-14 Ole Miss win against Murray State in 2001.

The Texas quarterback's famous uncle Eli Manning posted a cheeky reply on the SEC Network graphic flexing his achievements.

"I win!" Eli Manning tweeted.

During his postgame news conference, outspoken Texas coach Steve Sarkisian again highlighted Manning's place in the Longhorns' quarterback totem pole.

"What a luxury," Sarkisian said, “to have a player of his (Arch Manning) caliber as a backup quarterback. There’s not a lot of teams in the country that have what we have. Those guys are both capable of a lot. Both very good players. When we get Quinn back, we’re all gonna be happy with it.”

Arch Manning shows competitive spirit

Arch Manning comes from football royalty and showed flashes of brilliance that excited football fans when he was the No. 1-ranked prospect in the nation in the class of 2023.

Ewers' injury has allowed Manning to get unexpectedly more snaps than was first expected, and he showed his competitive spirit in the game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs when he addressed a missed opportunity to score a rushing touchdown during his postgame news conference.

“My family’s gonna be mad at me for not sliding,” Arch Manning said. “Every time I call my grandfather, he says, ‘Get down or get out of bounds.’"

ESPN reported that Ewers had been left out of the game against the Bulldogs because the Longhorns were 38.5-point favorites. Manning showed the leadership most teams required from their quarterbacks when he demanded more from himself and the team during the postgame news conference.

"I think there we need to clean up," Manning said. "Three snap penalties, holdings, lot of that is on me. I need to be a leader in the room, in the offense. We'll get that taken care of in the bye week and get ready for OU."

Sarkisian has a problem most coaches in the country would love to have with two elite quarterbacks in his QB room, and Manning is doing a good job of making sure that Ewers does not sit easy as QB1.
