The four finalists for this year's Heisman Award were Colorado's Travis Hunter, Boise State's Ashton Jeanty, Miami's Cam Ward, and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel. Hunter clinched the Heisman with a total of 552 first-place votes and 2,231 points.
FOX Insider Joel Klatt shared a tweet on X where he revealed the players he voted for. His list included Travis Hunter in first place, followed by Ashton Jeanty in second, and Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders in third.
Fans took to social media to share their thoughts and perspectives on his list for the Heisman. One fan was unhappy with the two Colorado players on the list.
"Embarrassing"
Another fan had a hilarious comment for Joel Klatt.
"Polar bear"
A fan criticized Joel Klatt with a bold take on how both Shedeur and Travis failed to win the Big 12 and are playing in the Bowl games rather than the playoffs.
"2 of your top 3 couldn't win the weakest power 4 conference and are playing in the alamo Bowl... Cam Newton damn near did it all by himself and did it in the SEC, your Big 10 bias is clear and another example of how the award's reputation is devalued dramatically."
Another fan stated that Klatt's Heisman voting list was disappointing.
"Terrible. Lost any respect for you in may have had left. Jeanty all day. And no chance CU has two of the top 3. They couldn't even make the playoffs."
This fan felt that journalists should not be given the option to vote for the Heisman.
"Journalist need their votes revoked. It should only be a coaches and former heisman winners to vote for the Heisman."
Another fan criticized Joel Klatt's take by talking about Colorado's statistics.
"Ridiculous when you consider how bad CO was as the 23rd best team."
This season in the Big 12, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders helped the Buffs secure a 9-3 campaign and a spot in the Alamo Bowl.
Their loss to the Jayhawks eliminated them from the conference title race. Despite this, the Buffs redeemed themselves after a 4-8 campaign last season. Shedeur was awarded with the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award for his performance this season.
Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter shares a witty response regarding his Jim Thorpe Award snub
After Hunter won the Heisman in New York on Saturday, former NFL CB Prince Amukamara had a very interesting question for the Colorado star. During the post-ceremony conference, Amukamara questioned Hunter how he felt after he was snubbed from the Jim Thorpe Award.
Travis Hunter responded by talking about how it doesn't matter because he now holds the most coveted college football award:
"They already decided who they pick (for Jim Thorpe Award)," Hunter said. "And I don't want to talk about the Thorpe. I mean, they made their decisions. I got the best trophy in college football, so how it looks on them don't look bad one me; it look bad on them."
Travis Hunter recorded a total of 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns receiving on offense and four interceptions and 32 total tackles as a cornerback. It will be interesting to see whether he can continue having the same success on both sides of the ball professionally in the NFL.
