ESPN adds former Colorado State football coach to the list of analysts ahead of 2024 CFB season

ESPN has announced its list of analysts ahead of the 2024 college football season, adding a former veteran coach to their ranks. In a press release on Saturday, the network disclosed that Steve Addazio, who has coached at numerous universities including Colorado State, will join the broadcast team to announce games starting in the opening week.

On this decision, ESPN Vice President of Production Amanda Gifford said:

“We are excited to welcome Steve Addazio to our talented roster of analysts. Steve’s vast experience and enthusiasm for college football make him a perfect fit for our coverage and we look forward to having him join us in the booth this fall.”

Addazio also commented on his new role:

“I’m honored to join ESPN and share my love for college football with viewers across the country. I’m eager to utilize my coaching experience in a new way and bring my perspective and passion to the commentary booth.” [H/T On3]

Steve Addazio's coaching career before ESPN gig

Steve Addazio has had a long career as a college football coach, starting in 1985 with Western Connecticut State. Over the years, he was the head coach of the Temple Owls, Boston College and Colorado State Rams.

Addazio was also part of a national championship-winning team. From 2005 to 2010, he was with the Florida Gators, starting as a tight-end coach and quickly becoming the assistant coach under Urban Meyer. During this period, Florida was the best team in college football, with a star-studded roster that included the likes of Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. The team won two national championships when Addazio was with them.

However, Addazio's head coaching career did not reach the same heights as his assistant coaching days. His most successful stint was with the Boston College Eagles, where he led the team to six bowl games, winning the 2016 Quick Lanes Bowl against the Maryland Terrapins.
