Coming into the 2024 season, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck was widely seen as one of the best QBs in the sport. He was also a strong contender for the Heisman Trophy.

10 weeks into the season, and Beck is not in the running for the Heisman. There may be a possibility where Carson Beck is not even a first-round pick in the NFL Draft.

ESPN analyst Mel Kiper released his first "Big Board" on Thursday, predicting who would be picked in the top rounds in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Beck was not in the top 25, putting his spot in the first round in jeopardy. On his decision, Kiper said of Beck:

"It's iffy right now. Very iffy right now whether he will. He's gotta do some things late in the year—he's gonna have a chance with Georgia, they're going to be in the [College Football Playoff]—to see what he can do there, on the biggest of stages."

Beck has had a mixed season so far. He has thrown for 1,993 yards and for 15 touchdowns, with an overall completion percentage of 66%.

But, he has thrown eight interceptions during this season, three of them coming in the Bulldogs' last game against the Texas Longhorns.

His performances are strong when facing significantly weaker sides. However, when he is facing top teams (if the Texas and Alabama games are anything to go by), he makes mistakes that the opposition has been able to capitalize on.

These mistakes have had an impact on this draft stock, with these performances causing Beck to fall down the rankings.

To guarantee his status as a first-round pick, he is going to need to play mistake-free during the rest of the season, and then take the Georgia Bulldogs to a good finish in the Playoffs.

Carson Beck on playing in Jacksonville

Carson Beck has been looking forward to the Bulldogs' game this weekend against the Florida Gators.

This is a historic rivalry game, and one that is played at a neutral venue, being held in Jacksonville.

Beck is from Jacksonville, and he has spoken about what it is like play and win in the city, as he did when the teams met last year:

"Coming home to Jacksonville, where I was born and raised and went to the game my whole life, it’s crazy, full-circle for me," he said. "Being a starter for the first time was exciting, and coming out with a win was even better.”

Victory is likely for the Bulldogs as they are heavy favorites to defeat the struggling Gators.

But, after his mediocre performance against the Longhorns last time out, all eyes will be on Carson Beck to see if that performance was just a fluke, and not a sign that he is already on a downward slope.
