Ashton Jeanty has had an incredible campaign with Boise State this season. The RB helped the Broncos to a 12-1 campaign while winning the Mountain West Championship and securing an automatic bye to the quarterfinals in the 12-team playoffs. He also tallied 2,497 yards and 29 touchdowns rushing on the field.

This week, Ashton Jeanty made an appearance on "The Edge with Micah Parsons". In the episode released Tuesday, the Boise State RB made a case for why he deserves the Heisman over the other finalists. Jeanty said his opponents have tried their best to shut him down offensively but have failed to do so in every game.

"People only wanna talk about the conferences. Okay, whatever," Jeanty said. "But, you know, when I played in ranked games, put up big numbers ... it doesn't matter who I'm playing against ... I have put a lot of work in, and I have led this team to the success that we have right now."
"A big part of that was on me, like, since the beginning of the year. The pressure was on me. You know, lead the team and help us get to where we needed to be. By week 4, I wasn't seeing anything less than an eight-man box. So that means the whole defense, every single week, is geared towards stopping me and they still couldn't."

Apart from leading Boise State to its very first playoff appearance, Ashton Jeanty is close to breaking Barry Sanders' FBS all-time rushing record, which he set back in 1988. Sanders put up 2,268 yards and 37 touchdowns rushing.

Jeanty only needs 132 rushing yards to create history. For someone who averages 192 yards per game, this is not an impossible feat to achieve. Fans might see Jeanty making history on New Year's Eve during the Fiesta Bowl showdown against either Penn State or SMU.

Chad Ochocinco picks his favorite between Ashton Jeanty and Travis Hunter in the 2024 Heisman race

Former NFL WR Chad Ochocinco has his own opinion on who should win the Heisman this season. He believes Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter is the most deserving candidate.

During an episode of 'Nightcap' with Shannon Sharpe, Ochocinco argued that Jeanty's accomplishments, while impressive, are more common compared to Hunter's unique two-way talents.

"Come on man I respect what brother Jeanty has done, but everybody's done it," Ochocinco said. "Nobody's done what Travis Hunter has done this year on the defensive side of the ball and the offensive side of the ball."
"Every snap, come on man what are we talking about. And that's no disrespect to my brother from Boise State. Man you had a hell of a season but what Travis Hunter did this year is different man." (4:45 onwards).
