The finalists for the most coveted award in college football have been revealed. The players are Colorado's Travis Hunter, Boise State's Ashton Jeanty, Oregon's Dillon Gabriel, and Miami's Cameron Ward. Hunter and Jeanty are by far the favorites to win the coveted award. Colorado's star currently leads with odds of -2500, while the Boise State running back has odds of +900.

Everyone seems to have an opinion on who the winner should be. One of those who recently added to the discussion is former NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. On Sunday, Ochocinco said the following in an episode of "Nightcap," his podcast with Shannon Sharpe:

"Come on man I respect what brother Jeanty, but everybody's done it. Nobody's done what Travis Hunter has done this year on the defensive side of the ball and the offensive side of the ball." [4:45]

Who's breaking records? Travis Hunter or Ashton Jeanty?

While Travis Hunter's two-way contribution to the Buffaloes is indeed historic and something never seen before, it's hardly record-breaking. Hunter is nowhere near breaking any record, outside school ones, on either side of the game. He isn't even on the top 100 all-time single-season yardage-receiving leaders in history.

On the other hand, the claim that everybody has done what Ashton Jeanty has done is a bold one. At the moment, Jeanty has 2497 rushing yards, he's fourth in the all-time single-season rushing yardage list, just 131 yards away from Barry Sanders's all-time single-season record of 2628 yards. With the Broncos partaking in the College Football Playoff, he could still break the record.

Jeanty and Gabriel could still add further glory to their seasons, as their schools are participating in the College Football Playoff. However, that's unlikely to factor into the voters' decision.

The final award ceremony will be held at the Lincoln Center in New York City on Saturday.
