Deion Sanders entered Colorado’s conference room on Friday morning dancing to a song admired by him for a long time. The song, titled “Single Life” by Cameo, is not only treasured by the coach, but he has a life-saving story to it.

When the music stopped, Deion Sanders told his players and staff the story attached to the song. He mentioned he fell asleep behind the wheel while driving on the highway to Florida before the song woke him up and saved his life.

“So I’m in a car, driving and I had that song on a cassette tape. I’m dead asleep,” Sanders said. “But when the tape clicked over, the song clicked hard, and it woke me up… It saved my life. So every time I hear that song, it's a joy to me.”

Deion Sanders on the upcoming game against Cincinnati

Colorado is up against Cincinnati in Week 9 as the Buffaloes look to stay on winning ways. The two teams will enter the game with a similar aim, to better their position in the conference standing.

Sanders gave his view on the Bearcats on Tuesday.

"Cincinnati is great,” Sanders said. “Cincinnati is playing really good football. If you match up statistically, we are kind of right there with one another. Our defense may have the edge just a little bit but offensively they have a lot more balance with running and passing the football.
“I like what they're doing. They are not flashy. It is not a sexy thing. But they get the job done. I love the way they attack. I love the way they get to the ball. I love what they are accomplishing this season.”

A win against Cincinnati will give Colorado a bowl game qualification, a feat Coach Prime was unable to achieve last season. The same goes for the Bearcats. This will be the Buffaloes’ first bowl game since the 2020 season that was shortened by COVID-19.

Deion Sanders on Colorado's current performance

Colorado has been much better this season compared to 2023. The Buffaloes currently boast a 5-2 record and are fast becoming a noteworthy threat within the Big 12. Deion Sanders commented on what his team has achieved on Tuesday.

“We have earned where we are,” Sanders said. “We actually feel like we're better than what we are. Because we are just starting to see the fruit of the work and the understanding of the expectation that we have for ourselves. Forget what others have for us, but what we have for ourselves.”

Colorado still has a couple of tough games to play this season but securing a bowl qualification seems achievable at this point. After Cincinnati, the Buffaloes will play Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma State in the regular season.
