New York Giants fans were unhappy with Drew Lock's comments after the team's 54-33 win over the visiting Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, snapping a 10-game losing streak.
New York (3-13) never trailed after taking the lead in the first quarter to win its first game of the season by double-digits as Lock finished 17 of 23 for 309 yards and four touchdowns.
After the game, Lock said it felt good to get their first home win of the season.
"They (fans) deserved it," Lock said ."The locker room deserved it. Everybody a part of this organization deserved it. It was a lot of fun. A lot of fun. We were clicking today. We knew. We knew we had it in us. It was time to go out and show out and do it."
Nevertheless, New York fans reacted negatively on X/Twitter about Lock's comments. The win may have hurt the Giants' chances of getting the first pick in the 2025 NFL draft, as the team was expected to pick Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders or cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter.
"The fans don't care, sorry. There's so few good players on this team a number one draft pick was much more important to the team," a fan wrote.
"We deserve it....We do...thanks for costing us Sanders and Ward..." another fan wrote.
"He's acting like the Giants clinched a playoff berth and not lose a first pick," a fan replied.
"We deserve a better QB," a fan commented.
"You guys can't even lose right," another fan wrote.
"Giants win only when it's a franchise loss. Sums up the last decade perfectly," a fan replied.
What are the New York Giants' chances of getting the first pick in the 2025 NFL draft?
The win has New York for the NFL's worst record with the New England Patriots (3-13) and Tennessee Titans (3-13). On Sunday, New England will take on the Buffalo Bills (13-3), and Tennessee will play the Houston Texans (9-7). New York will also be in action the same day against the Philadelphia Eagles (13-3).
New York could still be running for the first pick. However, its odds would improve if the Giants lose their next game and the Patriots and Titans win theirs.
