When fans heard his comments, they posted their polarizing reactions. Matt Rhule had said (as per On3 Sports):

"I think four teams from this league should get in the College Football Playoff every year. This is the best league. This is the NFL of college football in my mind. We stretch from coast to coast in different time zones."

Some were not against Rhule's statements, though:

"He's not wrong. You can't say the same for the SEC because it's just Bama/UGA and a bunch of mediocre teams that take credit for their accomplishments!" a user commented.
"Rhule knows ball," another X user wrote.
"100% right," wrote a user.

Matt Rhule shares emotional story about his wife while trying to explain his recruiting philosophy

The Cornhuskers HC will enter his second season of college football this year. Matt Rhule made significant changes to the roster as he looks to improve his 5-7 record, failing to qualify for a bowl game.

He explained his thought process behind his recruitment, during an appearance at The Pat McAfee Show:

"To me, recruiting is finding the guys that are going to be right for you and who is gonna fit for you. Some teams are first or second in recruiting rankers every year, but to me, it's just about who is gonna come there and who is gonna thrive at your culture."

While explaining the process behind the recruitment of students, he shared a story about his wife, Julie.

"It took me a long time to ask Julie to marry me, and she's the best thing that's ever happened to me. So, asking a guy to come play for me after a week of knowing him is really hard."

Many would appreciate the move of shouting out one's wif. But Matt Rhule not only spoke a few words about his wife but also likened the situation of recruiting a player to proposing one's partner.
