Travis Hunter had a successful season with the Colorado Buffaloes as he waits for the Dec. 14 Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York at Lincoln Center. The two-way star’s posters lit up Times Square on December 5, but the moment became even more special when he finally got to see it in person with his fiancée, Leanna Lenee.
Leanna shared the heartwarming moment with the fans with a clip in her Instagram stories as the two made it to the heart of New York City. Lenee captured Hunter staring at the hoardings and then posing proudly against the iconic backdrop.
In the clip, Hunter’s billboard looms large, boasting his record-breaking achievements with the Colorado Buffaloes.
Travis Hunter wins Biletnikoff Award 2024 AP Player of the Year
Travis Hunter's extraordinary season took another leap as he claimed the prestigious Biletnikoff Award and Associated Press' 2024 Player of the Year. The two-way star caught 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns this season.
Though the win meant a lot for Colorado, Hunter's win sparked heated debates among fans and analysts. Many argue San Jose State’s Nick Nash, who led the nation in receptions (104), yards (1,382), and touchdowns (16), deserved the honor instead of Hunter. In addition to the fan sentiments, critics pointed to Nash’s record-breaking stats as evidence.
Hunter’s fans defended the win, crediting it to his versatility and high-impact performances in Colorado's toughest matchups. Some fans also backed Hunter for the win in the name of former Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. who won the award a year ago.
Regardless, Hunter’s Biletnikoff win strengthens his Heisman campaign and his place as one of the most versatile stars in recent history right before he steps into the 2025 NFL Draft. All eyes now turn to the Heisman Trophy ceremony, with many waiting to see Hunter taking home the honors.
