Shedeur Sanders' college football career ended on Saturday as the Colorado Buffaloes suffered a 36-14 loss to the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl. He finished the game with 208 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 69.6% of his pass attempts.
While he appears to be in contention to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, those chances took a hit in Week 17 as the draft order suffered a major shakeup. Analyst Nick Wright recently suggested that the New England Patriots – who now hold the top pick – should consider drafting Sanders, despite drafting Drake Maye No. 3 overall last season.
Speaking on "First Things First", the sports media personality detailed how all options should be on the table for New England.
"You also have to deeply and thoroughly investigate or figure out how much you like Shedeur Sanders and/or Cam Ward," Wright said. "And if you feel like this year's QB1 – that you can pick, you can decide who it is – you like more than last year's QB3, who you have, then you must shop Drake Maye.
"If the [Tennessee] Titans agree with you, who have the No. 2 pick, and the Titans are like, 'Listen, we would take Shedeur, but if you guys take him, we like Drake Maye more than Cam Ward'. As an added bonus, you have a chance to truly revamp the New England Patriots by going Shedeur Sanders No. 1, Travis Hunter No. 2 [and] Deion Sanders head coach.
"And say, 'You turned the worst college program around in two years, have a shot at the worst pro program'. That has to be something you investigate," Wright added.

Maye has had an up-and-down rookie season. He has appeared in 12 games, making 11 starts, and led the Patriots to a 2-9 record in games he started. The No. 3 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft has thrown for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He has completed 66.8% of his pass attempts while adding 421 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 54 carries.
Deion Sanders calls out reporters making claims about his position on Shedeur Sanders' future
While Shedeur Sanders is widely expected to be one of the first two quarterbacks selected in the 2025 NFL draft, there have been plenty of rumors circulating about where Deion Sanders wants his son to play. The Pro and College Football Hall of Famer took to X/Twitter on Monday to shut down the noise:
"It will be multiple IDIOTS that will say things that totally aren’t true regarding where I would like @ShedeurSanders & @ShiloSanders to play in the @nfl . If I say it I will say it directly to whom it may concern not a attention seeker. I do know @nflcommish personally! [mic] drop."

The Buffaloes QB led the nation in pass completion percentage while ranking second in passing touchdowns and third in passing yards.
