Florida State HC Mike Norvell raves about DJ Uiagalelei's stellar camp performance: “DJ has been remarkable”

The Seminoles QB DJ Uiagalelei received a positive assessment from the head coach Mike Norvell when he attended the team's offseason camp on July 30.

DJ Uiagalelei will suit up to play for Florida State after playing for a year with the Beavers. During his time at Oregon State, he amassed 2,638 passing yards and 21 touchdowns with only 7 interceptions.

Given his performance in the training camp, the head coach gave his honest judgment about DJ Uiagalelei. He said:

“DJ has been remarkable,” Norvell said. “I really love the ownership he has in the offense. He’s been very consistent in what he’s doing. And, obviously, the explosiveness that he brings is impressive.” (7:06)

Former Clemson teammate is excited to go head-to-head against DJ Uiagalelei

DJ Uiagalelei entered the transfer portal on December 4, 2022, and announced that he would be transferring from the Clemson Tigers to Oregon State University but then left the football program to play for the Florida State Seminoles. While with the Tigers, DJ forged some great relationships and one of those was with the star Clemson LB Barrett Carter.

Even though Uiagalelei transferred to two different schools, he and Carter have maintained contact. As per The Clemson Insider, Carter is really to engage in "smack talk" with the QB in the face-off between Clemson and Florida State.

“Not really much smack talk going on – just catching up, nothing too crazy,” Carter said Thursday at the 2024 ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte, as per The Clemson Insider.

Carter also said that he is looking forward to playing against Uiagalelei and the Seminoles.

“Definitely gotta take it week by week, so whenever the Florida State week comes up, I’m definitely going to be super excited for that,” Carter said. “But having played with DJ for two years and just getting to compete with him every single day, it was super fun.”

The Clemson star also said that he holds a tremendous amount of respect for the QB as a player and as a competitor, and believed that DJ Uiagalelei will have success at Florida State.
