They then capitalized on a Florida fumble to score on their next drive to take a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was even worse for Florida, as the Longhorns continued their scoring spree with six minutes left in the half. Then, with a little over a minute to go in the half, Texas scored again to take a massive 28-0 lead. However, it was not over then, as the Gators threw an interception two plays into their drive. Things continued to go poorly for the Gators at the start of the third quarter, as the Longhorns scored a touchdown off a 34-yard pass from Quinn Ewers to Isaiah Bond. The Gators got their first points on the board off a field goal halfway through the quarter. They then broke through with a TD near the end of the quarter to cut the lead to 42-10.
