Ahead of the Georgia Bulldogs’ game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sugar Bowl, starting quarterback Carson Beck announced he would enter the 2025 NFL draft. Beck had one more year left on his eligibility but decided to turn pro next year.

The decision didn't go down well with NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay, who slammed the quarterback on his podcast "The McShay Show."

“Carson Beck made a bad decision to leave early,” McShay said. “I texted a bunch of guys in the league, GMs, former GMs, scouts. One Scout wrote back to me, one word answer — ‘foolish.’ I thought he got better late in the season, as I said, but I don’t think he’s there yet.
"Played great in certain moments. I thought he played better late in the season, but he never, this year played to the level that many of us expected him to play to. I just don’t know that he’s ready."

Carson Beck has had a mixed season. He started the season with the Heisman watch over him but between Oct. 12 and Nov. 9, the quarterback's pass was picked nine times. However, he improved upon it, and hasn't turned the ball over while throwing 11 touchdown passes.

Beck suffered a season-ending injury in the first half of the SEC championship game and now that he has called time on his college career, his last in college football was a 22-19 win over the Texas Longhorns to win the conference title.

Gunner Stockton will lead Kirby Smart's Bulldogs for the Sugar Bowl game.

Carson Beck's word of thanks for Kirby Smart, Georgia and teammates

While the decision may come as a shocker to many, Carson Beck's decision to leave the college landscape is set in stone. A couple of days ago, Beck made an Instagram farewell post, ending his time with the Bulldogs while sharing his gratitude to the coaches and his teammates there.

"To Coach Smart, Coach Bobo and the rest of the Coaches who were apart of my tenure at UGA, thank you for your wisdom, your unwavering support, and most importantly the time that you’ve sacrificed pouring into not only me, but the many others who came before and after," Beck wrote in caption. "Thank you for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to lead this team. It’s been a blessing and i’m forever grateful."
"To my teammates, i’ve been blessed to play with not only so many talented guys, but guys who are good people. There’s so many bonds that have been built that will last a lifetime and the people in that locker room is what I’ll miss most. I enjoyed every second of being with you guys and love you guys like brothers. It’s been an honor and I wouldn’t want to go to war with anyone else."

Early draft projection suggests Carson Beck will get picked as the third or fourth quarterback on the draft board, which means he will either be picked in the late first round or early in the second round.
